Educators value the success of all students. Educators care for students and act in their best interests.
As educators, our main goal is to act in the best interest of our students. Not only do we focus on their well-being and keeping them safe while they are in our hands, but it is our responsibility to ensure that each student receives the best education that we have to offer.
Before anything, as educators, we must ensure that or students’ basic needs are met. There are ideas that teachers only focus on the education of students but that is far from the truth. Before anything, educators ensure that students have started their day with breakfast. If they have not, then we do our best to provide it. Next is ensuring if they have the appropriate belongings that will keep them comfortable depending on the weather outside. Educators also ensure that the students receive the nourishment they need while they are in our care. Whether that be checking to make sure that everyone has a lunch or providing food for a student that does not have one.
As educators, we not only worry about student’s learning but also their mental and physical well-being. We do our best to support our students with everything they need while they are in our care. We try to create our daily lessons in ways that are inclusive to all our students. We want everyone to feel included and safe.
Our classrooms are created to be a safe space for our students. Whether that be creating a calm corner where they can go to self-regulate or providing them with the opportunity to talk to a youth worker when they feel they need additional support.
In conclusion, the professional standard stated above is one of the most important ones because our students’ safety and comfort is the most important thing when it comes to building a community.
